We know that you know that the Big Hurt means Big Fun and the Big Hurt race crew loves nothing more than to deliver on that idea each and every year. That is why we created, “The Experience”, to keep those good vibes flowing for your post-race bliss and the retelling of your BH war stories.
This year, because of Covid-19, we find ourselves needing to modify some of this extra fun so we can accomplish the most important goal, which is to get you and your peeps out of the house and into the mountains, water, trails and the rest of the beautiful BH course.
By the time Big Hurt takes place this year we will have just entered into Phase 4 requirements, one of which will be still observing social distancing. In order to observe these requirements, keep our participants healthy and give us the extra space and flexibility we will need for participants and spectators, we will not have the space for the usual, post-race “Experience”.
We will still present awards to the top finishers, have some kind of snack options for participants and don’t worry – there will be beer! Somehow. Somewhere. We are still working on that part of the plan.
We are bummed that we won’t get to give you the full, double rainbow experience that the BH has become famous for. What we are going to be able to deliver on is an incredible multi-sport race where you and your friends can get outside to run, paddle, bike and play in one of the most beautiful places on the West coast.
Thanks for your understanding and we can’t wait to see you September 25th at the Big Hurt where legends are made.
The Big Hurt Crew
Top 3 male and female and top 3 teams in each team division will receive an award.
Awards will be handed out at 4:30pm at Big Hurt Hub.
These awards are made from the heart, and adorned with this year’s artwork by company Subalpine Tees.
Word on the streets is that we will be getting a special guest appearance by the Big Hurt legend himself, Charlie. Meet Charlie in person at the post-race party, and watch him give the first ever Legend Award to an unsuspecting athlete. Who is Charlie you ask? Find out more…
